AlohaTuscany offers a one-week tour of the countryside in Tuscany and Umbria with a strong emphasis on Art and Fresco. Our Tour is for the artist and art lover alike. The Tour can be taken separately or in combination with the Fresco Workshop. We will stay at a beautiful Tuscan Villa such as that shown in our photo album. Most meals are included in the Tour price.

The Olive Harvest at Villa Godi

The Fall Tour takes place during the Olive Harvest. We will visit the olive orchard of our good friend, Andrea Godi, to witness the harvest. Andrea will explain and demonstrate the Olive Oil production process. We will then have a tasting of his wonderful Olive Oil. With good luck in the Autumn, we may even witness the grape harvest. Vineyards abound in Chianti and there always seem to be wineries near our art excursions. You will have the opportunity for wine tasting, if you desire. During the Spring the newly blossomed grapes will seem to grow before your eyes. We will also experience a taste of the Italian lifestyle, by shopping at a local mercato or two before our Tuscan cooking expert, Rosanna, conducts her cooking Lesson/Demonstration and Dinner.

One town that we visit on our Tour is Carrara, with its fascinating quarries. For centuries, the Italians have excavated marble in Carrara and we will visit a small, but fascinating open-air museum. Other possibilities include the well preserved and charming Villages or Towns of Orvieto, Assisi, and Pienza. From both artistic and historical standpoints, all these towns are well worth a visit, with many interesting frescos and architectural styles. In Pienza we will dine at our friends Luciano and Katerina's Osteria, where we will sample the regional specialty of Pecorino alla Griglia con Rigatina. We will also visit unique Abbeys, Churches and Villas scattered around the Tuscan countryside that are not easily found by most tourists. Time will always be set aside to allow exploring, shopping, or wine tasting, as you prefer.

Typical Tuscan Landscape

At AlohaTuscany we pride ourselves in creating flexible tours that meet the interests and desires of our guests. Rather than create a fixed schedule, we will take advantage of local celebrations, open-air markets, and the changing desires of the group throughout the tour period. When you sign up for the tour, a questionnaire will be sent to you that will help us learn about your interests and travel experiences. The questionnaire enables us to create a tour itinerary that will best reflect the personal interests for each of our groups as a whole. We feel this will give the best and most personal experience to all of tour guests. A comfortable, non-smoking, air-conditioned van will be provided for our travels.

As some people are sensitive to Perfumes, Aloha Tuscany would appreciate that all Workshop and Tour participants cooperate with us in creating a smoke-free and perfume-free environment to help ensure that all participants can enjoy their time in Italy. We ask that any smoking be outdoors, away from the group. At the same time, keep in mind that we cannot stop the locals from lighting up around smoke-sensitive tour participants.
